I Have A Facebook Page, Why Do I Need A Website?

Some people will tell you a website is not necessary, and they have done amazing things with just a Facebook page. However, not everyone is active on Facebook and some people just won’t use a company that doesn’t have a website.

Currently in the UK there are 44.84 million Facebook users, there is no way of finding out how many of these are active and use Facebook on a daily basis. There is data to show how many people use the internet on a daily basis. In a Statista report published Aug 19, 2020 they revealed that 46.6 million people use the internet on a daily basis. This highlights the need to have a website as well as a Facebook page. You can operate your business with just a Facebook business page; however, you will be limiting your client base and won’t be able to easily scale your business and maximise its opportunities.

Using only Facebook will limit your client base to those who are on and actively using that platform.

Facebook is a social media platform – a business Facebook page should complement and be run alongside a website. Social media is generally used as a tool to promote your business but also to help drive traffic to your website and generate leads.

There is also only a limited amount of information you can add to your Facebook page. For example, a lot of corporate websites will give an overview of the company’s goals, its mission, and its values. This is not something that can easily be displayed on a Facebook page.

Having a website helps build credibility, just a Facebook page could give the impression of a slightly sketchy organisation. It is very important for your audience to be able to Google and find your company, your services, or your products. This can only be achieved with a website.

The other point to bear in mind is how can anyone say they don’t need a website as well as a Facebook page if they have never had a professional website? The emphasis is on the word ‘professional’. An unprofessional website could do more damage to your business and brand than only having a Facebook page.
